Lighting
I want you to think back to the last play or concert (or any live event that had theater lighting) you went to and describe it (at least a paragraph). Did the lighting enhance the show? Did the lighting help tell the story? How did the lights make you feel? Would you have done anything differently? What was your favorite part of the design?

The last concert I went to was Australin Pink Floyd. The song choice was horrable. However the lighting was excellent. They had a circle screen with moving lights around it. sometimes they would blind the audience with the cyc lights.

The last concert i went to was an Adam Lambert concert and the lights were INSANE. they were changing colors, and just flying around everywhere and then it changed to strobe lights and back to neon green or purple or pink. It made the concert so much bettter because it gave that " YOU HAVE TO DANCE NOW" mood. It was crazy. I wouldnt have changed anything about the lighting and i like the fact that the lights were absolutly EVERWHERE. If you looked up on the ceiling all you saw was lights. I really loved all the crazy colors and and how fast they changed.
ReplyDeleteThe last play I saw was Peter Pan. The lighting enhanced the show by displaying the time of day. Lighting also enhanced the play by showing stars in the night sky and followed the actors around the set while they were flying. The lighting told the story by telling the time of day. The lighting made me feel more connected to the scene. I cannot think of anything done differently at this current state of my lighting design knowledge. My favorite part was the stars in the night sky.
ReplyDeleteThe last concert i went to was Demi Lovato. (: The lighting really helped set the mood of the song. If it was a slow song where you had to hold up your phone and rock back and forth, then the lights were centered mainly on her and the band members and it was dark everywhere else. If it was a fast, upbeat, dancing song, then the lights flashed everywhere with all different colors shinning on the stage, the crowd, and even into the sky. The lighting was very well done and worked perfectly with every part of the concert. My favorite part is when they shine the big, colorful lights into the audience and it lights up different parts of the crowd.
ReplyDeleteThe last concert I saw was the Jonas Brothers featuring Demi Lavoto and Camp Rock. The lighting was very exciting and made me feel very enthusiastic. It changed colors a lot and had a lot of flashing lights. The lighting definitely enhanced the show and made it a lot better. For the Camp Rock part of the show they wanted to make you feel like you were outside at the camp so the lighting made it feel that I was outside at the camp, so I helped tell the story. The lights made me feel like I wanted to get up and dance, and I did. The show was great so I don’t think I would change anything. It was an outdoor show at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, so since it was outside, my favorite part was when they would flash the lights and when you looked outside the theater you could see everything.

ReplyDeleteThe last concert I saw was a Bullet For My Valentine concert. The band is dark and the lighting really helped set the mood of the band and there music. The lighting was deep and bold colors and the smoke made them stand out even more. Without the lighting, the concert would not be the same. The lighting set the mood for the entire set. All of the bands that played had a different sound and a different lighting style. The lighting helped the audience differentiate the different bands. The faster songs were put together with faster moving lights with different designs and colors while the deeper and darker songs were put together with less lighting but bolder colors. the lighting really helped get the audience into the show. Without the lighting design, it wouldn't be that much fun to see.
The last concert I went to was a drop kick murphys concert. I thought that the lighting made the show a lot better. The had all sorts of different colors mixing together to make the show seem cooler. they also had smoke in the performance and the colors mixed with some of the smoke giving it a different look. The lights set a mood that made it seem like the concert was the only thing that mattered. I don't think I couldn't done anything to make the lighting on this show better.

The last live show I saw, was peter Pan in Florida. The lighting in this particular play was special to me because it portrayed how the the director wanted the audience to feel at times. Like in the climax, when the director wanted the audience to jump out of their seats when captan hook got eaten, or when we meet the twelve boys. Lighting is very important when it comes to portraying the story.
