This week you will be seeing the Amity fall play: And Then They Came For Me.
I want you to critique the production. IN DETAIL explain what you thought of the overall production. What did you particularly like? What didnt you like? What performance (by one actor) did you like the most? What do you think the message of the play was?

ANSWER ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS IN YOUR POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the play was very good and was a lot different then what I thought it would be. It was very moving. It was exciting and sometimes I really did not know what was going to happen next. It was suspenseful and I liked it and think it was a great production. I liked how it was a mix of what he was thinking and what was going on in real life. I did not really like how that box was the stage the entire time, it annoyed me a lot. Also I did not like the ending. Normally in movies and shows you know when the ending is, but in this I just came out of nowhere. I really like the performance by the mother, who also played as one of the actors standing in the back stage. I think she did a really good job acting and she really sounded and like a mother. I could tell she put a lot of emotion and work into her role. They really put thought into the message of the play. I think the message of the play was not bullying, but guns and how Josh was raised. In the play it did not really show much bullying but how he always got what he wanted, like guns. He loved guns and loved hunting and I think the fact that he felt scared about hunting the deer and how different it was from video games made him want to kill his parents and his classmates. Jobs that I did include painting the stage and painting the tall pillars on the stage. I did the priming of the stage and pillars which helped the painter paint on the pillars, which helped set the mood of being the mind of the main character.
ReplyDeleteI was very moved by the play and i enjoy it a lot. However, I agree with Steph that it didn't show how bullying pushed Josh over the edge and made him do this. I think that bullying could have been added more making it speak more about the effects bullying has. Something that I felt made the play interesting and exciting was how the actors often were switching lines and finishing each other sentences. This kept my eyes moving left and right on the stage and I found it made me more tuned in. All of the actors, in my opinion, were great. The once that stood out the most was the girl who Josh had been friends with his whole life. I feel like the actor really connected with the part and made it her own. She made it look very much like she was innocent and still intimidating to Josh. Because I know the background prior to seeing it, i know the message is to prevent bullying. However, this play could have shown that more. I was very happy with the turnout of the play and I liked it a lot. It was cool to be a part of it. I helped by painting and priming the platform, stairs, and pillars. I think the set looked tremendous.
ReplyDeleteI think that the whole lighting aspect with the cyc red and different colors was spectacular. I Also like the thing where as the people got shot the lights go off on them. I think that Bowen had a great voice for the voice in Josh's head and the jail inmate was creepy, but good. The pillars looked really good and marble like. I didn't get where the play was going when the inmate had a very short conversation with Josh, though. I believe that the play was overall very good. I painted almost everything black and helped with the sound a bit.
ReplyDeleteI thought That bang bang your dead was a good play. i liked how the cyc lit up when he shot the people. I wouldve liked the play more if it gave us more backround information on why he shot the people and how he did it. i think that the main character eric sheperd did a good job portraying his character. i also liked all the people who were in his head. i think the message was to ignore what other people think because the main character said that he herd people laughing at him and he wanted everyone to like him. In this play i helped paint the marble scene.

Even though i didn't actually see the play i think the message is that if you have something going wrong in your life that you should talk to someone about it. And also to think before any actions. I helped out with the scenery by painting the colums and stairs, and moving unwanted objects around.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the play came out very well. Being in the play made me really appreciate the work that everyone put into it. I really liked how the entire play was done with just one set. there were a couple pieces taken in and out but for the most part it was just one. The way that no guns were used really spoke to the audience, I felt. I think that Josh did a really good job with his acting. He did a good job being a tough guy yet totally broken on the inside. When the other kids were taking about all the chances they are going to miss out on, he did a good job showing his guilt. The message of the play, to me, was that even though someone may seem to be strong on the inside, they aren't always as tough on the outside. And sometimes someone can be so upset that they loose sight of good and bad and do something really wrong. I did a lot of the painting for this play. I helped with the construction of the set. Me and the other people in this class brought the entire show together. The set explains to the audience in a visual way what is going o and where they are. Although the set is not the most important part of a play, it brings everything and everyone together. When someone looks at the set they can see and tell what is going on and what may happen.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like most about the play was the mood set by the lights. The different colored gels such as the cyc lights and the orange and blue pars were based off the thoughts of the main character. I did not like the performance by one of the actors.I felt he/she was only changing the tones of their lines and not showing any emotion. Also the gun shots did not line up. The main character had the best performance because he was in tune with his part. The emotions and the feelings lined up and combined creating an overall great performance. The message of the play was about the child's problems and the results of his actions
